Portland General Store is a line of sustainable and natural hair and skincare products for men from Portland, Maine.  They smell great, work wonders and they aren’t harmful.  PGS does not use any fragrance oils, chemical additives or paraben based preservatives and, when possible, no artificial preservatives at all.  Parabens are the most widely used preservatives in cosmetics.  They easily penetrate the skin and build up in tissue.  There is evidence that they interfere w/ hormone function as they mimic estrogen.  They have been linked to everything from premature aging of the skin, breast cancer, decreased testosterone in men as well as prostate cancer.  So obviously we don’t want them any where near us.

A look ahead… YMC

Here we are on the cusp of February, about halfway through winter and we’re all pretty much over the initial excitement of snow (which really except for making an idyllic Christmas is good for absolutely nothing else except for ruining your shoes and causing traffic jams).  For every glorious, short-lived spell of warm weather we get hit with yet another crazy, wind-whipping cold front.  You’re friends keep posting pics of themselves on their amazing beach getaways, causing your heart to ache under the many layers of sweaters and down-filled jackets you’re wearing just to walk to the corner for a coffee.  Well don’t worry.  It’s almost over.  Just to prove it, I’ve got previews of the SS13 YMC collection.  I wouldn’t be showing you these if Spring weren’t just around the corner!
